Glasgow Airport's Terminal 2 to close this winter
Passengers travelling from Glasgow Airport this winter may be interested to know that the Scottish hub plans to close its Terminal 2 for a short period of time. This is because the airport operates a reduced flight service during the winter months.
Derek Provan, customer service director at Glasgow Airport, said Terminal 2 is usually quiet during the winter so it made "economic sense" to close it.
"Like any private business, we need to keep a tight control over our costs so that we can make best use of our resources, and invest in the future," he added.
This comes a year after Glasgow Airport opened a new £31 million terminal extension, creating better facilities for passengers, more shops and bars.
Mr Provan remarked that the scale of investment could only be continued by lowering costs and managing the airport efficiently.
Over the next decade, between £150 to £200 million is expected to be pumped into the travel hub.
This comes after BAA announced that it would be pumping millions into Heathrow Airport following the sale of Gatwick.
