All change for Billy Elliot

Liam Mower will be making way for the next generation of young boys, when he steps down from the title role of Billy, in Billy Elliot the Musical on the 30th September 2006. At the ripe old age of 14, Liam who along with James Lomas and George Maguire, first took to the stage as a 11 year-old Billy Elliot in March 2005, will later this month play Billy for the final time before returning to his home town of Hull to start acedemic studies for his GCSE exams.

Elton John's Billy Elliot, received its world premiere in London at the Victoria Palace Theatre in March 2005. Since opening the smash hit musical has been seen by almost one million people. Playing to regular full houses at London's Victoria Palace, it has broken box office records. Master Mower, who has already performed in front of the Queen, at Victoria Palace was also invited to perform at Buckingham Palace for Prince Charles as part of his involvement with the Royal Ballet School.

Earlier this year, Liam was invited to perform in New York at the prestigious AngloMania Ball at Metropolitan Museum of Art, where he performed in front of a star studded audience including Drew Barrymore, P. Diddy, Richard Gere, Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Jessica Parker. Joining the current Billy Elliot's line up is, Colin Bates, Leon Cooke, Matthew Koon and Travis Yates. They will join the established West End cast, which includes Sally Dexter (Mrs Wilkinson) Philip Whitchurch (Dad), Chris Lennon (Tony), Ann Emery (Grandma), Sara Poyzer (Billy's Mum), Paul Broughton (George), Alex Delamere (Mr Braithwaite), Isaac James (Older Billy).

The muscial of Billy Elliot, set in the tough North East of England is a funny, heart-warming and feel-good celebration of one young boy's dreams of following a path of dance, rather than following the generations before in to the mines. The theatre staging is an adaptation of one of the most adored British films of the last decade. It broke box office records across the world and was nominated for a range of awards including Oscars and BAFTA's.

The show features music and lyrics by pop legend Elton John (The Lion King,Aida Lestat), with choreography by Peter Darlingm.
