Great new musical opens in London

Seven BridesThe U.K. touring production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, dances its way into the West End's Theatre Royal, Haymarket on the 10th August 2006.

The stage version of the fabulous MGM musical officially opens in London on August 16th 2006.The stage cast is led by Dave Willets who plays Adam, the eldest of the Seven Brothers. Willets was last seen in the West End in Ragtime and before that as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables as well as in the title role in The Phantom of the Opera.

Shona Lindsay whose stage appearances include Grease in the West End and Singing in the Rain on tour takes on the role of Adam’s new bride Milly.

The musical set in Oregon in the mid nineteenth century, is a light hearted battle of the sexes tale that would make the Taming of the Shrew look quite liberal by comparison.

Adam played by Howard Keel, in the fifties movie version of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, decides that he will set out to the nearest town to get himself a wife, he meets Milly and takes her back to his cabin, where he lives with his six brothers, each of whom are keen to get a wife of their own.

Adam then reads the Roman capture of the Sabine women and decides that the perfect solution to his brother's matrimonial desires is to kidnap six women.

The show is famous for some snappy songs that you'll soon be singing along with, such as "bless Your Beautiful Hide" "Wonderful, Wonderful Day," and "goin courtin"
