Stansted Airport commended
Essex hub Stansted Airport has been rewarded with a prize for developing the Most Innovative New Programme.Business in the Community (BITC) was the group offering the accreditation, which was given to the air gateway for the way it helps young people into the world of work and employment training.
There are a number of StanstedAirport hotels which employ a high number of local people too.
Ashley Riley, the airport's head of communications and public affairs, accepted the award on behalf of BAA Stansted and said it was "a great honour" to receive the gong on behalf of the hub's hard-working employees.
"We are passionate about giving young people the opportunity to work at Stansted, and to help develop their skills and expertise," he explained.
Last week, BAA announced that there is still a strong case for a second runway at Stansted Airport, but there will only be an enquiry into this matter once the future ownership of the facility is settled.
