Twice daily flights are to be launched in July between Blackpool Airport and Belfast City Airport. The service by airline Manx2.com will operate Monday to Saturday and run a morning and afternoon flight.
It is hoped that the additional services will attract more commuters to use the service.
Sue Kendrick, customer relations and communications manager for Blackpool Airport, said: "This is great news for leisure and business passengers from across the north-west."
The airline is also altering the times of its service from Blackpool Airport to the Isle of Man, with up to four return flights every day.
Noel Hayes, chairman of Manx2.com, said they were responding to customer demand with the new flights.
He added that the route was anticipated to be "very popular".
The airline, which is based in Ronaldsway airport, offers flights between Leeds, Gloucester, Jersey, the Isle of Man, Belfast and Blackpool airports.
In April 2009, more than 90 per cent of its scheduled flights arrived either on time or early at their designated airport.
