BAA to close T2

BAA the airports operator has announced that its to close London Heathrows terminal 2, when the new terminal 5 comes in to operation in 2008.

Nine million travellers are currently handled by T2 but this is predicted to drop to under one and a half million passengers as Terminal 5 comes in to operation.

Terminal 2 was opened in 1955 and sources within the British Airports Authority said that the decision to close the terminal was mixed with "nostalgia and sadness".
