Bristol Airport announces expansion plans

Bristol Airport announces expansion plansBristol Airport has revealed proposed redevelopment plans as part of a new consultation on the future of the south-west hub.

A six-week consultation is set to take place as the hub seeks feedback on its intentions which include additional airport parking and an extension to the existing terminal building.

Redeveloping the terminal will allow the airport to provide services for ten million people per year, compared to the current capacity of just over six million.

The airport claims that the work would lead to the creation of 4,000 new jobs in the region.

Robert Sinclair, chief executive officer at Bristol Airport, commented: "This development will enable the airport to meet the growing demand for air travel to and from the south-west.

"The new facilities will make the airport better for our passengers, allowing us to improve the service and range of flights available to local business and leisure travellers."

Last week, low-cost carrier Ryanair unveiled two Boeing 7373-800 planes to be based permanently at Bristol.
