Flights to France from Leeds/Bradford Airport
Budget regional airline Jet2 will begin flying to one of France's most important historical locations from Leeds/Bradford Airport next year. Running until June, the service from the Yorkshire hub will see flights touch down at Albert (La Somme) in the Picardie region, close to the site of the famous World War I battle of the same name.
The route is aimed at the 'battlefield tours' which are becoming an increasingly common and popular part of the history curriculum, giving youngsters the chance to see the locations in their school textbooks first-hand.
Jet2 have also highlighted the appeal of Albert in terms of its proximity to other destinations such as Lille, the 2004 European Capital of Culture.
The flights, which start in April 2009, will cost from £60.99 each way including taxes.
Low-cost airline Jet2 is based at Leeds/Bradford Airport where it operates almost 40 of its services and has flown commercial flights for over 30 years.
