Atlantic flights leave Leeds/Bradford Airport
Low-cost airline Jet2 saw the first of its services to New York City take off from Leeds/Bradford Airport last weekend. Leaving from the carrier's base Yorkshire base, the occasion was historic as it marked the airline's first transatlantic flight from the regional gateway.
Jet2 employees were dressed appropriately for the launch of the new service, decked out in all manner of headgear and accessories emblazoned with the red, white and blue of the American flag.
Earlier in the month, the airline gave away free flights on the new service at an evening at a Leeds casino.
The current schedule to the New York will run until November 16th and then again from December 1st to 14th, allowing passengers to track down Christmas presents while Stateside.
Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary recently announced he was planning the launch of a low-cost airline to America which would operate independently of the existing Ryanair brand.
