Fans await Oliver!

Fans await Oliver!Theatre lovers will be booking their tickets en masse in eager anticipation of Oliver!, the new musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist.

This show at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, which will open on December 12th, will star Jodie Prenger, the winner of television talent show I'll Do Anything, in the role of Nancy.

Popular comedian Rowan Atkinson will play the character of Fagin, while Oliver will be played by Gwion Jones, Harry Stott or Laurence Jeffcoate, who also won their part through I'll Do Anything.

Oliver! has been restaged from Lionel Bart's original musical by Cameron Mackintosh and has not been seen in theatres since its run at the London Palladium in 1994.

Audience members will be entertained by a number of popular songs at the show, including Food Glorious Food, Consider Yourself and You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two.

The team behind the show includes 2008 Olivier award-winning director Rupert Goold and Tony award-winning choreographer Matthew Bourne.
