Norwich Airport boss remains confident
The managing director of Norwich Airport has revealed that he is unfazed by falling passenger numbers and competition from Stansted Airport, according to reports. It was recently announced that passenger numbers at Norwich Airport have dropped by more than 11 per cent in the past year and the regional hub recorded the biggest fall in passengers in the UK last month with a fall of 11.4 per cent.
However, Norwich Airport boss Richard Jenner said that the fall in numbers was expected and should be nothing to worry about.
He told the Norwich Evening News: "Last year we reported there were about 680,000 passengers and we predicted that would drop to about 620,000 which is more or less what the figures are now."
Mr Jenner also brushed off concerns that the expansion of Stansted Airport would affect business at the regional hub, stating that he expects long term growth at Norwich Airport.
Traffic at 18 leading UK airports fell by an average of 4.5 per cent last month from 20.8 million to 19.9 million, with almost one million fewer passengers nationally.
