Terminal 5 exhibits artwork
Passengers travelling though Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport will be able to see the winning entries of a prestigious art competition.Launched in conjunction with Goldsmiths College, the contest has given a number of young artists the chance to see their work displayed in the departure lounge of the newest addition to Britain's busiest airport.
Some 28 teams comprising a total of 70 students entered the contest, with only two pieces being chosen for display in Heathrow Airport.
One of the winning entries was 'Taking Place' by Sally Hogarth and Emma Johnson, which takes the form of a striking white curve rising up from the floor, onto which images of famous destinations are displayed.
In a statement, the artists said they wanted to create a piece of work which "offered the passenger a mirror to their own experiences of travel".
The other successful entry was from a group called Lobby, which used white LEDs set behind opaque perspex to illuminate its arc shape.
