Glasgow Airport terminal extension to open
The first stage of Glasgow Airport's multimillion-pound expansion scheme is set to open next month, it has been reported. Initially, the £31 million 'skyhub' project (as part of a wider £200 million plan over the next decade) will open up new bars and shops and will include a £12 million investment in security.
After 18 months of construction the new development will be "transformational" says managing director Amanda McMillan.
"I suspect that many people will be astonished at the scale of change in the terminal. It is change for the better and will deliver a better experience for our passengers," she added.
The company also notes that the building will be designed to be carbon neutral and will become fully operational on October 28th 2008 after both storeys open.
Glasgow Airport currently serves 8.8 million passengers a year travelling to over 80 destinations worldwide, with a total of 5,300 employees.
