East Midlands Airport scoops awards
There was double joy for East Midlands Airport as it received two travel industry awards in less than a week, according to reports. Its first accolade came when it was named 'airport of the year' at the Travel Trade Gazette Awards pipping both Luton Airport and Birmingham Airport to the title.
East Midlands Airport then beat fellow nominees Liverpool Airport, Bristol Airport and Birmingham Airport to the award of the 'star regional airport' at the Travel Bulletin Star Awards.
Penny Coates, East Midland Airport's managing director, said: "We are delighted to have won two prestigious and highly acclaimed awards in less than a week and see this as a reflection of our hard work and dedication.
"These awards show the confidence, trust and respect our colleagues in the travel industry have for the airport and we are delighted that this has been recognised in a very competitive marketplace."
Earlier this month, it was reported that East Midlands Airport spent a record amount of money soundproofing the homes of local residents.
