Expansion approved at Exeter Airport
Plans to expand Exeter Airport have been approved by the city council, it has been reported. As part of the new draft proposals the number of aircraft stands at Exeter Airport would double, which would allow for an increase in passenger services.
Under the plan Exeter Airport's terminal building will also be expanded to accommodate the anticipated three-fold increase in passengers from around one million to three million.
However, a series of recommendations, including noise and night flight restrictions, have also been proposed by the city council.
Councillor Yolonda Henson told This is Exeter: "The point is that the airport is going to grow, and it's right that we have some control on night flights.
"We can't say no, but we have got to make sure that if it's expanding it's expanding the way we want it to."
The expansion is not expected to be completed until 2030, which gives authorities ample time to discuss possible solutions to any of the issues raised.
