Bling banned at Edinburgh Airport
Passengers travelling through Edinburgh Airport have been reminded not to wear jewelry designed to look like weapons, according to reports.Fashion accessories shaped like knuckledusters, buckle-knives and replica guns are just some of the arms confiscated by officers and BAA security at Edinburgh Airport from April to September this year.
Inspector Gary Dickson, from Lothian and Borders Police airport police unit, said: "My officers have been called to several incidents recently at the terminal's central search area where articles worn by passengers have been identified as modified weapons and led to the police being involved."
With an increasing number of security measures being introduced at airports around the country, passengers are being advised to be sensible with their clothing and accessories when travelling.
"We want people to enjoy their travelling experience at Edinburgh Airport, but in this era of heightened security, passengers would be ill-advised to wear or carry items which resemble weapons," Mr Dickson added.
Edinburgh Airport remained Scotland's busiest hub last month, handling 886,027 passengers.
