More choice at Newcastle Airport
Passengers will be given the opportunity to fly to new locations from Newcastle Airport with the announcement of budget airline Jet2's intention to fly a weekly service to Croatia, it has been reported.Flights to the Dalmatian city of Split on the Adriatic coast will begin operating on Saturdays from May 2nd 2009 and seats have been priced at £56.99 one-way including taxes.
The Split service brings the total number of destinations available from Newcastle Airport with Jet2 to 13.
Jet2 boss Philip Meeson said: "Croatia is a fantastic addition to the schedule from Newcastle. The city of Split offers everything for the holidaymaker, from culture and history to beaches and nightlife.
"With its Italian influences and miles of clean beaches, Croatia is fast becoming one of Europe's leading holiday hot spots."
Newcastle Airport announced pre-tax profits of £17.7 million for 2007, nearly an 80 per cent increase on the previous year, the Journal has reported.
