Airline reaches landmark at Luton AirportAn eastern European airline was celebrating after reaching an aviation milestone at Luton Airport, it has been reported.

Carrier SkyEurope announced it had flown more than 250,000 passengers out of Luton Airport to destinations in Slovakia and the Czech Republic in under ten months.

Natalie Raper, Luton Airport's marketing director, said: "We are delighted to reach this significant milestone with SkyEurope and look forward to working closely with the airline for further passenger growth.

"With these successful destinations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia we continue to serve the requirements of both the business and leisure traveller."

In a bid to build on the recent success, SkyEurope hopes to expand its fleet of Boeing 737-700 aircrafts from 15 to 32 by the year 2011.

SkyEurope was named Eastern Europe's most popular low-cost operator at the Skytrax World Airline Awards.

Over 100 million passengers use Luton Airport each year, which is an increase of over 400 per cent in the past ten years.
