Leeds/Bradford development gets underway
A development project has begun at Leeds/Bradford Airport which aims to improve a range of passenger facilities, it has been reported.As part of a £70 million investment by new owners Bridgepoint Capital the initiative will see the introduction of better transport links including an improved car park and terminal frontage.
John Parkin, the airport's chief executive, said: "The growing importance and status of Leeds Bradford International Airport is an essential part of the economic vitality of the region."
Further redevelopment will include improving the short-stay car park as well as constructing better pedestrian walkways for the airport's passengers.
"We are delighted that development has commenced and are very confident that these works will ensure the continued success of Leeds Bradford International Airport and provide the people of the region with an airport of which they can be proud," Mr Parkin added.
Leeds/Bradford Airport is aiming to boost passenger numbers by two million to five million a year by 2013 and raise its number of destinations from 75 to 100, the Yorkshire Evening Post has reported.
