City Airport boss wins top business award
Richard Gooding, London City Airport's chief executive, has become the recipient of a prestigious business award, according to reports.Mr Gooding was named "Business Person of the Year" at the Docklands Business Club and East London Chamber Business Awards award ceremony.
Giles Broadbent, editor of The Wharf newspaper, sponsor of the award category, said: "The Business Person of the Year award celebrates the ability of an individual to motivate and display entrepreneurial acumen, dynamism, enterprise and charisma."
A major revamp of London City Airport's departure lounge will be completed in June with 250 more seats for passengers in addition to enhanced terminal facilities.
Mr Gooding said: "The growth the airport has witnessed is largely credited to our convenient location on the doorstep of Canary Wharf and the City of London."
Richard Gooding joined London City Airport in 1996 and was awarded an OBE for services to aviation in the 2006.
Around 3.5 million passengers are expected to travel through London City Airport this year, it has been reported.
