Virgin Atlantic Heathrow terminal 'a success'
Virgin Atlantic has announced that its new terminal at Heathrow Airport has been a success in its first five months. The carrier said that the facility is attracting thousands of customers, with long-haul passenger numbers up by four per cent in April.
'Upper class' sales saw an even stronger increase of ten per cent in passenger figures.
Virgin Atlantic claimed that 98 per cent of people who had used its upper class wing rated it as either excellent or good.
Steve Ridgway, chief executive of the airline, said the new terminal was helping to improve the reputation of Heathrow and took the opportunity to snipe at British Airways.
"Passengers are voting with their feet and switching to us in their droves. These results are in stark contrast to the shambles from a certain other airline," he said.
"We're sure that the speed and efficiency of Virgin Atlantic's new terminal is restoring the public's faith in travelling from this vitally important UK hub."
Airport lounges are available at a number of other locations at Heathrow, as well as airport hotels offering accommodation before or after flights.
