'Variety of destinations' popular for package holidays

'Variety of destinations' popular for package holidaysA range of different destinations are proving popular with people taking package holidays, a tour operator has claimed.

According to First Choice, customers are still showing a liking for mainstream destinations such as Spain, but are also becoming interested in more adventurous long-haul travel locations.

"Demand for package holidays is strong both for 'traditional' destinations such as Spain, Cyprus and Egypt, and for…long-haul destinations such as Mexico, Costa Rica and Cuba," a spokeswoman for the company said.

The First Choice representative also commented on the 'one size fits all' package holiday, claiming that this is now a thing of the past as customers have their own requirements and interests, leading deals to change to reflect this.

First Choice offers holidays to numerous destinations across Europe and the world, with flights departing from Gatwick Airport, Stansted Airport, Manchester Airport and others.

According to recent research by Halifax, some 2.5 million British people take package holidays to exotic destinations every year.
