Edinburgh welcomes first flight from New YorkEdinburgh Airport has hosted the first flight to connect New York City with the Scottish capital.

US carrier Delta Air Lines launched its first service between New York's John F Kennedy international airport and Edinburgh on May 1st.

The operator now offers 37 transatlantic destinations, which it claims is more than any other airline in the world.

Glen Hauenstein, Delta's executive vice-president of network management, said: "No one offers more destinations across the Atlantic.

"Delta's new flight connecting New York to Edinburgh continues our successful international expansion which includes 13 new international destinations this year."

Delta's service between New York and Edinburgh will operate on a daily basis, with flights departing from JFK at 22:00 local time and returning from Scotland at 11:50 every day.

The service uses a Boeing 757-200 offering 16 business class seats and 158 economy spaces.
