EasyJet forecasts strong bank holiday traffic
EasyJet has predicted that the May bank holiday will prove a popular period for spring getaways, with some 450,000 passengers expected to use its flights over the long weekend.Britain is set to see a spell of cold and wet weather for the coming weekend and easyJet expects sunshine hotspots to prove the most popular among UK travellers.
The Iberian destinations of Alicante, Faro and Malaga are set to be the top foreign holiday spots, while Edinburgh is expected to be the number one city break location, followed by Amsterdam, Barcelona and Geneva.
EasyJet operates the majority of its flights from Gatwick Airport, with Stansted Airport, Manchester Airport and Birmingham Airport also offering services.
PR executive Marianne West said: "More people than ever are taking advantage of their bank holiday weekends, with over 450,000 passengers jetting off across Europe with easyJet to soak up a little sun or experience a few cultural days away on a city break.
"It's impossible to rely on the great British weather and, let's face it, sunshine and relaxation is far more appealing than DIY."
