Web 'more convenient than travel agents'
The internet is beginning to overshadow high street travel agents as a method of booking holidays as it offers more convenience to customers, it has been claimed.Kate Shipp, researcher for Which? Holiday, said that holidaymakers take advantage of the fact that the internet enables them to book airport hotels, flights and every other element of their trip quickly and easily.
"You can do everything without having to leave your desk or your office. And it's also about being able to compare things quickly on price and choice," she said.
Ms Shipp claimed that the flexibility of online booking and the ability to tailor holidays to suit individual needs is another big advantage for many customers.
High street travel agents still have their place in the industry, however, as Ms Shipp explained that not all holidaymakers are comfortable making important arrangements on a computer.
"There are still people out there who like to use a travel agent," the holiday researcher said. "There are some people that are less tech-savvy, and they may not feel confident booking online."
