EMA toasts another successful quarter

EMA toasts another successful quarterNottingham/East Midlands Airport (EMA) is continuing to grow in popularity among passengers, new figures have revealed.

The latest data showed that during the first quarter of the year some 1,195,747 passengers used the airport, up 15.2 per cent on the figure for the first quarter of 2007, to achieve the eight quarter of growth.

It is likely that the addition of new routes to the schedule during the first three months of 2008 boosted Nottingham/East Midlands Airport.

These included First Choice's launch in March of flights to Goa, Palma links from easyJet, flights to Warsaw from bmibaby and Isle of Man connections with Manx2.

"The significant increases demonstrate that passengers are embracing the destinations and routes available from East Midlands Airport," said Penny Coates from the airport.

It is also thought that the Easter weekend contributed to the continued growth, as 95,000 passengers used the airport over the holiday.

Nottingham/East Midlands Airport was awarded prizes for Airport of the Year, Best UK Airport and World's Leading Eco Friendly Airport during 2007.
