Monarch resurrects Manchester-Gibraltar link
Low-cost carrier Monarch has announced that it will resume its service between Manchester Airport and Gibraltar. The route was withdrawn in July 2006 but will be brought back to life this September, with three flights a week to be offered between the north-west and Gibraltar.
Liz Savage, director of scheduled services for Monarch, said the airline was "delighted" to announce the resumption of the service.
She added: "There continues to be huge demand for flights from our customers and this has been reflected by the number of requests that we have received from them over the past few years."
Ms Savage said that Gibraltar offers an "ideal gateway" to a number of popular holiday locations in southern Spain.
Monarch claims to be the largest scheduled international carrier operating from Manchester Airport. It also offers flights from Birmingham Airport and Gatwick Airport to destinations in Spain, Portugal and Cyprus.
