EasyJet launches new route from Glasgow

EasyJet launches new route from GlasgowLow-fares airline easyJet has launched an inaugural flight from Glasgow Airport to Faro in Portugal.

The carrier offered the first connection in the twice-weekly service on April 22nd.

Frequency will increase to three flights a week during the peak summer holiday period between June 26th and August 28th.

EasyJet expects that it will carry 16,000 passengers between Glasgow and Faro in the route's first year.

David Osborne, the airline's UK commercial manager, said: "This direct route to Faro has already proven a popular choice and will offer all Scots the opportunity to experience the glorious Algarve from their local airport.

"Forward bookings for the route have been very strong, which further proves the demand for direct low-cost flights from Glasgow to the sun."

Faro is the capital of the Algarve region and is a popular destination for people on golfing holidays.
