Birmingham celebrates punctuality ratings

Birmingham celebrates punctuality ratingsBirmingham Airport has celebrated recent figures showing the improving levels of punctuality at UK hubs.

The airport referred to recent figures from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), showing that it had a higher percentage of on-time scheduled flights than any other airport in the last quarter of 2007.

In total, Birmingham operated 80 per cent of its scheduled flights on time between October and December, compared to the national average of 69 per cent.

Delays were four minutes shorter at Birmingham than the national average, according to the figures, and the average hold-up fell by two minutes compared to the previous year.

Will Heynes, the airport's operations director, said: "Our reputation as an airport that's easy to get to and easy to get through is reinforced by these latest CAA figures.

"We work closely with our airlines and handling agents to ensure that delays, which are kept within our control, are kept to a minimum, and we thank all of our partners for their continued hard work."
