Scottish travellers offered new route to Egypt
Scottish low-cost airline flyglobespan has announced the first of its flights for winter 2008, a connection between Glasgow Airport and Hurghada in Egypt. One flight a week will be available to the Egyptian holiday hotspot from November 5th.
The Hurghada service will be available alongside flyglobespan's existing flights from Edinburgh Airport to Sharm el Sheikh, which launched last winter.
Tom Dalrymple, chairman of the airline, said that the carrier was "delighted" to offer another direct flight between Scotland and Egypt.
He added: "The success of Sharm el Sheikh, which began as a winter destination only but proved so popular that it soon became one of our year-round destinations, was definitely a contributing factor in this decision to launch the Glasgow-Hurghada flight."
Gordon Dewar, managing director of Glasgow Airport, said: "Egypt is proving increasingly popular with Scottish holidaymakers. Its culture, history and landscape make it a quite unique holiday experience, and visitor numbers have been growing consistently."
