Gatwick hires new traffic control firm
A new company has been appointed to carry out traffic marshalling services at Gatwick Airport. The airport announced that it had awarded a contract to Vinci Park to carry out a new scheme to improve traffic flows and security around Gatwick, which should benefit passengers and people using the hub's airport parking facilities.
Vinci Park's operations, which will focus on perimeter roads and forecourts, will be part of Gatwick's strategy to improve accessibility to its terminals, where passenger traffic is on an upward trend.
Another element of this plan is based at the airport's south terminal, where work to redesign forecourts is already underway.
Fraser Brown, head of commercial transport at Gatwick Airport, said: "The safety and security of our passengers remains our number one priority.
"The new team of marshals will provide valuable support to the traffic wardens in maintaining the flow of traffic through our forecourts. By moving on any parked vehicles and freeing up valuable drop-off bays, delays for passengers will be kept to a minimum."
