Former EastEnders star to hit the stage
Former EastEnders star Letitia Dean is to turn her acting talents to the stage this year with a role in High School Musical. The actress, who played Sharon Watts in the BBC soap, will fill the role of Ms Darbus in the show.
Commenting on her role, Dean said: "I am absolutely delighted to be playing Ms Darbus.
"Musical theatre is my first love and this will be the first time I have been on a musical stage since I was in Annie when I was 13. I grew up with Judy Garland and Calamity Jane so this is a joy for me and I loved dancing in Strictly Come Dancing."
Based on the popular Disney movie, the stage version of High School Musical will open at the Apollo Hammersmith on June 28th, with an initial run until August 31st.
A show inspired by the film is currently on tour around the UK and its success has prompted the idea for a London theatre run.
The West End version will boast an entirely new cast and a production designed specifically for the venue.
