Work nears completion on City Airport check-inLondon City Airport's new self-service check-in kiosks are set to be ready for use in May by all passengers to check themselves in for flights.

The kiosks will be for passengers with airlines including VLM and KLM as well as British Airways, Lufthansa, SAS and Austrian Airlines.

The £30 million project is the airport's largest and is being completed because of the increased demand seen in the airport in the past few years.

Other renovations to the airport include another 250 seats to the departure lounge and a new lounge with internet and a new retail area that should include WH Smiths.

The enhancements are to complement the extra aircraft handling room on the runway in which new parking stands that will be able to handle up to four additional aircraft to add to the 14 existing parking stands.

Melanie Burnley, customer services and security general managers for the airport, said: "By speeding up the overall time spent at the airport, business travelers are able to commute with further ease to their final destination."
