Yoko Ono heads to Liverpool Airport
Yoko Ono is heading to Liverpool's John Lennon Airport today to help to celebrate the travel hub's first transatlantic flight to New York. The wife of the late Beatle John Lennon will official launch the new daily service which expects to see thousands more passengers flying to and from the Big Apple.
Airport spokesman Robin Tudor told the Liverpool Daily Post: "We are delighted at the launch of this new regular service to New York.
"The service is being marketed both here and in the US. The millions of people who already use JFK will get use to seeing the name Liverpool JLA on the destination board, and that alone will attract attention."
The new service follows the Open Skies rules, which has seen restrictions on certain airlines flying routes between the EU and the US lifted.
After six years, it was finally agreed that all EU and US airlines would be able to make transatlantic flights between the two destinations from any airport not just those in their own country.

To paraphrase Mister Rogers of kiddie-TV fame: "Can you say 'professional widow'? I knew ya could..."

One of the great myths of the 20th century: John Lennon and Yoko Ono love story. Lennon needed her in the way people need a mother. He was incapable of looking after himself. Most of the relationship was a l ong list publicity stunts. Behind closed doors I suggest it was all very different. If Lennon had lived they would have divorced within two or three years

I think John Lennon would like this. Would John of ever believed Liverpool would name it's airport after him?
