Glasgow introduces new parking plan

Glasgow introduces new parking planBAA Glasgow has introduced a new £2 million plan for its airport parking and drop-off arrangements.

A free, covered pick-up and drop-off zone will be created opposite the main terminal as part of an ongoing initiative to improve passenger access following last year's failed terrorist attack.

Motorists collecting and dropping off passengers will be able to wait for free for ten minutes.

Those wishing to stay for longer can use the designated bays in car parks one, two or three.

The new drop-off and pick-up zone, which was built at a cost of £150,000 and complements the existing drop-off area on St Andrew's Drive, was opened on the morning of March 20th.

Glasgow Airport managing director Gordon Dewar said: "We believe this solution addresses the concerns of passengers, while safeguarding the security of all passengers. Work to redesign the airport forecourt and install new security measures is currently underway.

"A £1.5 million investment by airport operator BAA will see the entire forecourt resurfaced, with separate lanes created for buses and taxis and wider pavements for passengers."
