New flights from Cardiff to Barcelona

Low-fares airline bmibaby announced that it is to launch new flights from Cardiff Airport to Barcelona.

The carrier will open the route in May and offer three connections a week, the Western Mail reports.

Cardiff is currently at the centre of expansion plans being launched by bmibaby, which intends to base more aircraft at the Welsh hub in the future.

The carrier has already announced that it will launch a new service to Warsaw in Poland this summer.

Managing director Crawford Rix said: "I believe Cardiff has a great future and that is why we are committed to this new [Barcelona] route."

He added: "Since coming to Cardiff six years ago, we have developed new networks and we have launched new routes, including the recent one to Poland."

Cardiff Airport recently made changes to its surrounding road system making it easier for people to drop off passengers.
