Hungary prepares to host festival visitors

Music fans will soon be planning their flights to Hungary in anticipation of the country's summer festival season.

The first event of the year is the Liszt Festival in Sopron, which will run from July 18th to 31st.

This will feature a programme of piano recitals in honour of the composer and pianist Ference Liszt, who was born in Sopron in 1811.

One of the most popular festivals will take place at Lake Balaton in July, a location that can be reached by direct flights with Ryanair from Stansted Airport.

In the past this event has featured artists including Basement Jaxx, the Beastie Boys and DJ Darren Emerson.

One location that is easily accessible from a number of UK airports is Budapest, and the Hungarian capital will host the Sziget Festival from August 12th to 18th.

This year the event, which is held on Old-Buda Island in the River Danube, will host groups including REM and Iron Maiden.
