Kendal gets glowing reviews for new play
Felicity Kendal has won glowing reviews for her turn in new West End production The Vortex.Kendal stars in the Noel Coward play as Florence and the story focuses on her relationship with her hedonistic son Nicky.
Florence is desperate to hold off the onset of old age, something she does by pursuing relationships with younger men. This habit clashes with her son's need for his mother's love, which sees him competing with her boyfriends.
Nicholas de Jongh of the Evening Standard said that Kendal is in "riveting form" in the play and makes the evening "satirically delightful".
The Daily Telegraph's Charles Spencer said: "This is an evening that memorably moves from cocktails and laughter to the rawest of drama."
West End visitors can see The Vortex at the Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, where it is taking bookings until June 7th this year.
