EMA figures continue to climb

EMA figures continue to climbNottingham/East Midlands Airport (EMA) continued to see rising passenger numbers in January this year, it has announced.

The total number of people departing and arriving from EMA reached 340,069 in January, 15.8 per cent more than the 293,786 of the previous year.

Throughout 2007, Nottingham achieved an overall annual increase of 14.5 per cent in passenger traffic.

The airport began 2008 with a boost to its long-haul network, with First Choice Holidays launching new services to Goa in India.

European destinations including Cologne, Palma and Warsaw will also be accessible from EMA with bmi regional, easyJet and bmibaby.

Penny Coates, managing director of the airport, said: "We are pleased to report another successful month of passenger growth.

"These figures indicate that the airport is meeting the needs of passengers across the region and beyond. This is a tremendous start to the year and we are hopeful that the momentum will continue throughout 2008."
