KD avia boosts frequency from Gatwick
Russian airline KD avia has announced that it is to boost the frequency of its flights from Gatwick Airport to Kaliningrad. The carrier revealed that the connection, which uses a Boeing 737 aircraft, will operate on a daily basis from summer 2008.
Journey duration is around two hours 20 minutes and passengers will be able to connect to 12 cities in Russia and Astana in Kazakhstan.
Loretta Durrell, the airline's UK sales manager, said that the development was "great news" for both business and leisure travellers heading to Russia.
She added: "Traffic has grown to all our 12 destinations since our launch in June last year and with a daily service we expect sales to be boosted by the growing number of businessmen accessing the Russian market who need flexibility in their travel arrangements.
"We are also seeing a growth in tourism to the fascinating city of Kaliningrad, historically called Konigsberg, and we are escorting our first familiarisation trip for tour operators there later this month."
In addition to its Gatwick Airport services, KD avia offers flights from Berlin, Barcelona, Hamburg, Prague, Rome and a number of other European cities.
