Speed-The-Plow wins rave reviews
Speed-The-Plow, the new production currently showing at the Old Vic Theatre, has won rave reviews from the national press. The play is the latest work from acclaimed writer David Mamet, the playwright behind Glengarry Glen Ross and director of films including House of Games and Heist.
Hollywood stars Kevin Spacey and Jeff Goldblum appear in the show as two movie producers who constantly debate the concept of art versus money in the film industry.
The lead actors give compelling performances, according to Daily Telegraph reviewer Charles Spencer, who wrote that they "deliver Mamet's sharp, smart, rat-a-tat dialogue with a panache that creates a thrill of pure pleasure".
Respected Times reviewer Benedict Nightingale described Speed-The-Plow as a "brilliant production", while Nicholas de Jongh of the Evening Standard said the play was "a rare, theatrical triumph".
In other London theatre news, it was confirmed that The 39 Steps has had its run extended by four months.
Tickets for the Criterion Theatre show are now on sale until October 11th.
