BAA 'to invest millions' in Glasgow Airport

BAA 'to invest millions' in Glasgow AirportGlasgow Airport is set to undergo a year of development as a result of substantial investment by operating company BAA, reports claim.

BAA is planning a 50 per cent increase in capital investment this year, bringing the total level of financing to £25 million, according to Travel Daily News.

Some of the improvements will lead to enhanced comfort and convenience for Glasgow Airport passengers, including additional seating, security improvements, new flooring and better lighting.

A large portion of the funding will go into the skyhub development, a new single departure point for all passengers that is set to open in autumn this year.

Gordon Dewar, Glasgow's managing director, said: "It promises to be an exciting year for the city's airport, with a massive 50 per cent increase in infrastructure spend, including the biggest single investment made by BAA Glasgow for a generation, the new skyhub development.

"When it opens in nine months' time, skyhub will transform the experience for passengers using Glasgow Airport, offering state of the art security screening and a wider choice of bars, shops and restaurants for a fast, safe and enjoyable airport experience."

Mr Dewar claimed that the airport's investment plan is one that "puts passengers first".
