Leeds/Bradford gets connection to Pakistan

Leeds/Bradford gets connection to PakistanLeeds/Bradford Airport will see a boost to its long-haul network next month when the first non-stop flights between the Yorkshire region and Islamabad, Pakistan are launched.

Two services a week will be offered by Shaheen Air International, commencing on February 7th.

Shaheen Air was designated the second national carrier of Pakistan in October 2007 and operates 15 domestic and international routes.

Its new Islamabad service will offer 191 economy and 19 business class seats, a provision that Leeds/Bradford International Airport (LBIA) said will be an important addition to existing flights for the Pakistani community in Yorkshire.

Airport chief executive John Parkin said: "For the first time in LBIA's history the people of Yorkshire will be able to fly direct to Pakistan from their local airport.

"Whether it's for business or pleasure we are sure that this service will be extremely popular and we also look forward to welcoming passengers from Pakistan to Yorkshire."

Kahlid M Sehbai, chairman of Shaheen Air, said it was "a matter of immense pleasure and pride" that the airline will be serving the Pakistani community of Leeds and Yorkshire.
