Prestigious award goes to Manchester Airport

Manchester Airport has been named the airport of the year for 2009 at a prestigious ceremony.

The north-west travel hub was given the accolade at the Travel Trade Gazette Awards, which are described as the industry’s Oscars.

Andrew Cornish, managing director at Manchester Airport, who accepted the prize, said the award was a testament to the efforts of the travel hub’s 19,000 staff members.

Flybe launches summer flights from Leeds Bradford International Airport

Passengers who want to travel from Leeds Bradford International Airport with Flybe next summer can now buy their tickets.

Flybe, which is Europe’s largest regional airline, has released flights for its new summer 2010 timetable.

Mike Rutter, chief commercial officer at Flybe, said the travel period on offer included the Easter break and bank holidays.

Gatwick Airport and London City Airport

Passengers who normally travel from Stansted Airport to Newquay, who may have been dismayed by the news that Ryanair was cancelling the service, can still fly to the destination from Gatwick and London City Airport.

Air Southwest runs a service to Newquay from London City Airport that travels four times each day.
