Great staff. I have stopped here before and came back because of the good service. Last time here my leg started to bleed(varicose vein) my wife went for a first aid kit and the management was superb. Only bad point on this visit was our evening meal, fish and chips, not very good. Cheers Dave Lee.

Hotel does need a little upgrading BUT dining area good and breakfast excellent. Room clean and staff attitude and attention excellent.

The bar area had chewing gum under the tables which was reported to the Bar Manager. He said they are checked everyday after my husband got chewy on his new trousers. I pointed out that there was over 8 pieces under our table both fresh and old. He said he would ask the staff to check the tables the next day. I did get the chewy off with some ice. The mattress in our room was ancient, with lumpy springs. We had a really bad night trying to sleep before our flight. Not good enough Britannia Hotel Newcastle, well below your usual standards.

The hotel is ideally located for an overnight stay before your holiday,the rooms are a bit tired and dated but clean, staff are very helpful and friendly and the buffet breakfast was very nice (only £5 if ordered when checking in).

Good points were service particularly on reception and at breakfast. Really bad parts of this stay were that a football match was on the television in the bar. It was very loud as were the people watching it. This was the place to sit and to eat the miserable brown food that was served for supper.
